MARGO’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES
TITLE SEQUENCE
For Margo’s Got Money Troubles, we created a tactile, handcrafted title sequence that blends practical filmmaking with CG animation to tell the story of Margo’s chaotic world. We imagined the sequence as a surreal assault course, where everyday objects become larger-than-life obstacles. Overdue bills tower overhead, sunglasses form tunnels of watching eyes, baby bottles spin, and swinging gavels threaten to knock her off balance as Margo climbs, leaps and stumbles her way through.
Inspired by the handmade aesthetic Margo creates for her online content, we built the world almost entirely by hand. Using original props, costumes and materials from the production wherever possible, alongside bespoke pieces made to match, we constructed hundreds of modular tiles that could be rearranged across interchangeable sets. Each tile was individually crafted with its own textures, materials and references, with many incorporating practical lighting and electromechanical elements, including custom-built rotating props.
Everything was filmed as a physical miniature set before being combined with a CG Margo and subtle digital enhancements. The result is a richly textured world where practical craftsmanship and digital animation work seamlessly together, creating a playful, imperfect universe that reflects Margo’s resilience as she navigates the beautiful chaos of her life.
